| GET YOUR POPCORN READY: Lions on Terrell Owens: 'He's a beast'
Freak. The words are but two of the ways the Lions described Terrell Owens as they prepared to face the Dallas Cowboys talented but often turbulent receiver today at Ford Field. But heres another way to describe Owens this season: the NFLs leading receiver in yardage. And maybe even one more: understated excellence. As the Cowboys have rolled to an 11-1 record and Owens has steadily marched toward a career year at age 34, the season has lacked the usual T.O. tabloid-style drama. No fighting with teammates, no spitting at cornerbacks, no accidental overdoses. Just T.O. showcasing his skill, torching defenses and making good on the $25-million promise he made last year to Dallas fans when he told them to get your popcorn ready, because it's going to be a show." It certainly has been that this year.
'Z' says he's close to his 'A' game
And No. 2, whether you close in spring training or whether you pitch the fifth inning. You're going to get the same amount of work, so we don't really have to change anything but the inning the particular pitcher pitches." Wood and Howry are scheduled to work an inning apiece Saturday in Tempe when the Cubs play the Los Angeles Angels. Ramirez out Aramis Ramirez was scratched from Friday's game at HoHoKam Park with shoulder soreness, and his return is unknown. "We have plenty of games," Piniella said. "When he's ready to go, we'll put him out there." Ramirez said he had the same problem early last spring. "I don't know what's up with that," he said. "Maybe I don't do the same kind of throwing here I do in the Dominican.
After 3 wins, Obama wins Maine, too
When politicians pit one group against another, the only winners are those who believe that more power should be concentrated in the federal government. The economic evidence clearly demonstrates that the U.S. economy will produce significant income gains for all Americans as long as appropriate policies are followed. Marginal tax rate reductions and death tax repeal are examples of those policies. Yes, taxpayers will benefit, including some upper-income taxpayers, but the real winners will be Americans on the lower rungs of the economic ladder. .

It's kids vs. 'big' kids in video bowling tourney
Evan Welsh is only 7 but he's already ranked as a "pro" bowler. "I've bowled a perfect game," he'll tell you proudly. But, the Bethel Park youngster doesn't lift a heavy bowling ball. He uses a remote control to win games, earning "pro" status in virtual bowling on his Nintendo Wii game system. Tomorrow night Evan and 35 other classmates from Lincoln Elementary School in the Bethel Park School District will team up with their grandparents to compete in a Wii bowling tournament. CapeCodToday Blog Chowder
In a Cape Cod Times editorial today they took the position that it was a good idea. Well, they didn't really stick out their neck; they said it is worth considering. My feeling is this: Schools should try single sex groupings it and see who it helps without tooting it all over the place as the answer. Results, in terms of test scores and emotional output should be studied. Doctoral dissertations should be encouraged to examine it and survey research should be funded to see how much, if at all, it helps. Finally, the question must be asked if it is worth setting aside Title IX and possibly the culture altering woman's movement to do it? We need to know these things before we get too infatuated with separating boys and girls at school. .

It takes something from the heart." Van Duyn argued that her 35 years of experience in the financial world makes her the perfect candidate for council. A mortgage banking executive, Van Duyn said her strength is analyzing problems, developing solutions and finding compromise. Romack touted his experience as a general contractor. With the city building a City Hall and commercial project and remodeling the current City Hall, Romack said he would be an asset in dealing with all that construction. Optimal band imaging with endoscopy facilitates the diagnosis of ...
OAK BROOK, Ill. February 18, 2008 A study from the Jichi Medical University in Japan shows that optimal band imaging used with an endoscope provided images that clearly identified depressed-type early gastric cancer without magnification in 96 percent of study participants. The study appears in the February issue of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Gastric cancer is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in the world. If gastric cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate increases nearly 90 percent. In contrast, most patients with advanced gastric cancer have a poor prognosis. Gastric cancer is classified as elevated, flat and depressed types. Despite improvements in endoscopic technologies, depressed-type early gastric cancer is challenging to diagnose because it manifests as subtle changes in color and shape.
