| Relegation a threat as Newcastle sink lower
When you lose a game you know you should win maybe it's twice as disappointing," Keegan said. Hughes believes Keegan will guide Newcastle out of their tailspin, which has seen his seven matches in charge yield five defeats and two draws. In pics: Premier League actionFootball fans' forum"I'm surprised there hasn't been a Keegan effect on the pitch, though there has been a fantastic effect on the surrounding area," Hughes said. "The scenes you saw when he was appointed prove that. Maybe it hasn't quite happened on the pitch yet, but it's only a matter of time. But the longer they go without a positive result, the more tension and apprehension there will be. I'm sure they'll have enough to stay up." .

Crackdown on rowdy drinkers
You can't have it both ways, if you don;t want people smoking inside then you have to let them smoke outside. I still think the police should be concentrating on more serious matters, like solving crime perhaps, not telling people to be quiet. Watch out Edinburgh, we'll soon become a laughing stock!!! if we're not already! .

Cerys: We were different animals outside jungle
HEARTBROKEN Cerys Matthews has revealed exactly why her "perfect" romance with celebrity jungle lover Marc Bannerman dramatically hit the skids. Talking exclusively to the News of the World singer Cerys told how she sensationally dumped the former EastEnders star just before Valentine's Day after realising they were a total MISMATCH. She said: "I fell for Marc and loved being with him...but we were very different in many ways. It had to end." In fact the whirlwind fling that began so magically in front of millions of TV viewers on I'm a Celebrity was wrecked by a catalogue of differences: HE loves his cool showbiz life in a trendy part of london, SHE'S a mum-of-two village girl in Wales. HE'S a protective macho man who takes charge on dates and orders everything, SHE'S a fiercely independent spirit who insists on making her own decisions.
Former soldier shot in the face at Emporia truck stop, suspects sought
Police are searching for the men reponsible for shooting a former soldier at a truck stop in Emporia. Corey Batts says he and his friend were confronted by three men at Love's Truckstop in Emporia on January 20th. Batts said he told the men he didn't want any trouble, but as he tried to walk away, they opened fire. "Boom, just like that, point blank, just like that," he said. "Before I knew it, I was shot in the face. I mean, just, like, a blink of an eye; a snap of the finger, I was shot in the face." .
SPRINGDALE : Board hears club’s idea of adding practice field
The Springdale School Board is considering spending $ 250, 000 on an artificial-turf football practice field for Har-Ber High School. The school's booster club would have to raise another $ 250, 000. The club hopes to have the turf installed by the spring. An artificialturf practice field would be a significant step toward a football stadium and field house at Har-Ber High, officials said. That idea, however, comes at a time when the school district is under financial pressure and is cutting academic spending in some areas. The board heard a proposal from the booster club at a Tuesday work session. Superintendent Jim Rollins said a board decision should come within a few weeks. Tim Pruitt, a Har-Ber Booster Club officer, told that school board that the Har-Ber football team splits its time practicing on a shabby grass field near the school and at cross-town rival Springdale High School's Jarrell Williams Bulldog Stadium, Pruitt said.
Rolen says Toronto fans will take to Eckstein as their shortstop
Scott Rolen, who feuded with St. Louis manager Tony La Russa in recent years, is definitely gone from St. Louis. The All-Star third baseman was upbeat as he arrived Tuesday at Toronto's camp. "It's exciting," said Rolen, traded from St. Louis to the Blue Jays for Troy Glaus. "It's like going to a new school or your first day of school. You walk in and you don't see or know anybody, it's challenging and exciting at the same time." Rolen will play alongside former St. Louis teammate David Eckstein. The Blue Jays signed the 5 1/2 -foot shortstop as a free agent. "The fans will take a liking to him right away," Rolen said. "He's the little engine that could. He's going to be running around out here like his hair's on fire." Astros At Kissimmee, Fla., Houston Astros pitcher Woody Williams walked into the clubhouse and saw a swarm of reporters gathered around Miguel Tejada.
Helicopter crash kills three employees of Air Evac EMS
WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- Three members of an Air Evac Lifeteam died in a helicopter crash in Alabama. The air medical company is based in West Plains. The helicopter was helping in the search for a missing hunter when it went down. The cause of the crash was still unknown, and the victims' names hadn't been released on Sunday, but many were asking how this could have happened. Trying to save one life, the three helicopter crew members lost theirs. Flags were at half staff at the company's headquaters on Sunday. The company operates 75 medical helicopter bases in 12 states. Early Sunday morning, the helicopter crew from Muscle Shoals, Ala., was assisting in the search for a missing hunter. Good news came that the hunter had been found but, at nearly the same time, the bad news arrived about the crash.
Bush's Blackwater, an armed and deadly mercenary Christian army
Like most of you I knew Blackwater was a military contractor with personnel in Iraq. I knew they also sent armed personnel to police the street of New Orleans after Katrina. But I did some research after a private pilot friend sent me a series of photographs he recently took flying over their 6,000 acre North Carolina training site (see exclusive enlarged high resolution pictures here, my friend took them not knowing whether there might be dire consequenses flying so close to their facility). Once I did a little reading I was horrified at the secret army Bush has at his beck and call. For starters, I suggest readers take a few minutes and at least view this discussion, if not read the entire article from The Nation by Jeremy Scahill, the author of a new book, "Blackwater, The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army".
