Underdog champion

When the Jays open the 2008 season at Yankee Stadium on March 31, Eckstein will appear in his 966th career game ... including 126 in 2001 as an Angels rookie, besting Merloni's game totals in one year.

While Orange County fans loved Eckstein, the Angels didn't. In a salary arbitration hearing in February of 2004, the Halos compared his range and arm to that of a triple-A shortstop and knocked his .325 on-base percentage.

Of course, mean things often are said during arbitration. We remember Bill Gullickson losing because he did not pitch enough shutouts and management telling Marquis Grissom that his 76 steals were of little import.

Funny thing, underdog Eckstein, a winner all his life, won in arbitration, gaining a $2.15-million US salary for 2004.

This is a rush transcript from "The O'Reilly Factor," February 21, 2008. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

Watch "The O'Reilly Factor" weeknights at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET and listen to the "Radio Factor!"

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: Now for the top story tonight: analysis of the [McCain-New York Times] situation. Joining us from Washington is former White House spokesman Tony Snow. What do you think?

TONY SNOW, FORMER WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: You know, I think you're absolutely right. It's unbelievably sloppy. Look, you can't have an innuendo saying they had a personal affair without any details, or say that he was intervening inappropriately on the part of clients that she was representing without having any details.

And furthermore, what you didn't mention, Bob Bennett, his attorney, has pointed out that they submitted 30 or 40 pages of answers to written questions.

READ MY LIPS: John Swinney presents the first SNP Budget in the ...

50 YEARS, THATS PROBABLY JUST ABOUT RIGHT. And you are entitled to your opinion! In the good old days you could sort out the scum yourself. The polis just turned their backs and went into the local pub for a few free beers. Those were the days, bring them back![bold]bold[/bold] .

Travel magazine boosts Biloxi

More than a million people should see Biloxi is "Alive and Thriving" when they read a two-page article in the March issue of Budget Travel magazine.

"While this Mississippi city will never forget Hurricane Katrina, its residents are ready to embrace a bright, shiny future," the article begins.

Readers will see photos of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art pod pavilion on the beach along with the casino strip, Mary Mahoney's, Emeril's Gulf Coast Fish House and Hard Rock Casino. They'll learn the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport has more direct flights now than before Katrina, and that the Biloxi Bay Bridge again connects Biloxi with the live-music bars in Ocean Springs like the Julep Room Lounge.

"It's good for everybody," said Marjie Gowdy, director of the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art, who received a copy from the publisher.

'Special Report' Panel on Hillary Clinton's Health Care Plan and ...

HUME: Viewers will notice, of course, that we are speaking very differently about how the two parties allocate their delegates. In the Democratic Party if you get a proportion of the vote, no matter how small, you get that same proportion of the delegates.

In the Republican Party, it is almost always winner-take-all. You win the state — you win the congressional district in some cases — you get all the delegates. So it's awfully hard for somebody to stay in the race if they keep losing.

EASTON: And even Mitt Romney's home state, Massachusetts, it is not winner-take-all. So even though he is ahead there, McCain will get delegates.

HUME: McCain will get delegates for sure.

EASTON: I think probably what you will see on the Romney campaign is whether they do well enough to stay in the race in case something happens.

Obama Rolls On In the Texas debate, Clinton doesn't slow the front ...

She didn't really even take a shot.

Clinton was occasionally aggressive, but not enough to shake up the dynamic that has her nearly tied in polls in the crucial March 4 primary states of Ohio and Texas. Clinton's game plan was to connect with voters, not to tear down Barack Obama. She took pains to show that she understood the concerns of regular folks and that she had plans to address them. She did this well at times, particularly in her final answer of the debate, but Obama turned in one of his strongest performances so far of this campaign. In an even match, the tie goes to the front-runner.

For weeks, Clinton campaign aides have been saying that when voters got a chance to see the two Democratic candidates side by side, it would stop Obama's momentum. Voters would see that Clinton is the more competent and durable candidate.

Pakistan YouTube incident adds to international outage

After a two hour stretch yesterday of refusing service to YouTube users across the globe, the Google-owned site said Pakistan is to blame.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority ordered ISPs to re-route traffic away from a specific YouTube URL pointing to a trailer for Dutch Politician Geert Wilders' anti-Islamic video.
