| Airman dies as 2 fighter jets collide during over Gulf of Mexico
Post a comment. View latest comments. EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AP) -- Air Force investigators were trying to determine the cause of an apparent collision of two fighter jets that killed one pilot during a training exercise. The single-seat F-15C Eagles crashed Wednesday into the Gulf of Mexico, said Col. Todd Harmer, commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing, 58th Fighter Squadron. The pilots had ejected and were rescued, but one died later. The base has suffered a "great loss," Harmer said in an e-mailed statement. "We will continue to do everything we can to assist our families and airmen at this tragic time." The condition of the surviving pilot and the names of both pilots were not released. The cause of the collision about 35 miles south of Tyndall Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle was not immediately known, Harmer said.
Heath Ledger was a lonesome cowboy
I met him six times in nine years and for the most part he was awkward about being in the spotlight. He worried about his roles and fretted over the consequences. When I last saw him, at the Ven-ice film festival in September, he looked shattered. He could have been 50, with lines etched deep in his face and the weight of the world on his 6ft frame. He complained to The New York Times in his last official interview in November of getting only two hours’ sleep a night. Film acting in the premier league is not supposed to be like this. In the hellraising days, rip-roaring Brits such as Peter O’Toole, Richard Burton and Richard Harris worked out their frustration on the bottle – and on their leading ladies. Now, Hollywood’s top ranks seem to be riddled with those who agonise: young men who take tablets with unpronounceable names in private.
Juice alert
For example, a 650-millilitre Boost Juice Tropical Crush has 1391 kilojoules, while a Nudie blueberry and blackberry crushie has 237 kilojoules per 100 millilitres. Coles's Farmland apple juice contains 180 kilojoules per 100 millilitres - the same as Coke. Dietitians Association of Australia spokesman Alan Barclay said that, although most juice contained nutritious vitamins and minerals, for most people the health benefits were outweighed by the kilojoule content. "Juice will only make you put on weight, so any health benefit will be counteracted by extra kilos," he said. Catherine Saxelby, author of Nutrition For Life, said the problem with juice was that it contained all the fruit sugar, or fructose, and kilojoules of fruit without the fibre, meaning it was all too easy to overconsume.

Concealed Carry: ABC Apparently Prefers Fish-In-a-Barrel To OK Corral
Interviewing a student advocate of concealed carry on campus, Good Morning America's Bill Weir fretted today that it could lead to an "OK Corral" situation. Weir spoke with Mike Guzman, a student at Texas State University and a leader of a national group called Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. Weir's opening gambit: "Are you carrying a gun now?" Guzman said that he was, and does so everywhere but on campus. Sort of made me wish Guzman had asked Weir if he was unarmed. You can view the video of the entire interview here, but I'd focus on this bit of editorializing by Weir: BILL WEIR: The idea if there's two or three people in an economics class, and a gunfight breaks out, are you really saying, it's sort of like we're devolving to the OK Corral here.

Katherine Heigl Knows How to Handle With Care
Katherine Heigl was still busy moving on Thursday, taking a cigarette break between lifting heavy boxes into her new digs in LA. Seems like the perfect job for sweats, but as usual Katherine was perfectly dressed and accessorized right down to her chunky red bracelet. Hopefully Mrs. Josh Kelley is almost finished moving in, because we want to see her back on the set of Grey's already. .
